Hi Jes,

Can you post the output of SHOW CREATE TABLE for the two tables? It is a bit difficult to recommend something without knowing columns belong to which table.

Which version are you using? If MySQL 5.5 or lower, I suggest upgrading since MySQL 5.6 and higher should handle such queries much better.
