Peter's link is 6 years old. I heard of 1,000,000 per second last year. However, I suspect it was a very specialized benchmark.

You are asking about 1,000,000 per month, which is an average of 2.6 per second.

I can comfortably say that MySQL can handle 100 'simple' operations per second. (This is without special hardware, etc, etc.) So a million per month should be very manageable.

Would you like to share the SQL? We might have tips on improving it.
