If so, I don't know the cause of the difficulty. The issue appears to be specific to FreeBSD.

Consider reviewing https://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql/5.7/en/news-5-7-34.html for any issues that might be relevant to your installation.

Failing that, as with the other user having this difficulty, all I can suggest to try understanding this is to run the cheatsheet described under that name at https://www.artfulsoftware.com/infotree/mysqltips.php for a few hours under 5.7.33, then for a similar duration under .34 or .35, and post both results here so we can see & analyse the differences.
