After testing more real-world traffic patterns involving multi-connection concurrency, the performance degradation of individual queries was largely offset by overall better performance of concurrent requests. We proceeded with our upgrades across all environments and the performance has been roughly equivalent to that of 5.7. The CPU and memory utilization are approximately 20% higher on version 8 than they were on 5.7.
