The potential brought by MySQL 8.0 is unmatched by MySQL 5.7. Of course, in low-spec machines and low-concurrency scenarios, MySQL 8.0 is currently weaker than MySQL 5.7. However, this can be partially offset by the PGO optimizations supported by MySQL 8.0.
