Hi,

Generally you only need one ndb_mgmd per cluster. It is only needed for restarting other nodes or for backups/shutting down/etc....

You can run other things on the same server as the ndb_mgmd keeping in mind the possible need for an arbitrator.

It is possible to setup multiple ndb_mgmd's but it does take some extra work. If you take a look at http://forums.mysql.com/read.php?25,7237,7536#msg-7536 there is some more information about it there.
