Hmmm what makes you think mysqld is consuming a lot of memory? I can't decipher that from that log file I posted.

Also, I wasn't aware 'ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE' was possible. That is actually a pretty cool feature that I might use when it is stable, but it is not in the code anywhere at the moment. Any other ideas?

I am interested to know if there are any other methods to find out what mysqld is doing other than the error and warning log files, because neither of them are used for this particular situation.
