sounds like the journal thing is either:
a) file system bug
b) bad disk

with QMGR errors, possibility of lost contact perhaps? maybe some of the disks are going bad and retries are causing the nodes to become unresponsive and being voted out of the cluster?

would be good to see the error log and cluster log (possibly trace files)
