I think it is quite obvious - for redundancy and load balancing. I have yet to get it working but that is exactly how I would try to do it. Running only one would defeat whole point of using cluster, if I am not mistaken. In case there some way to support redundancy and load balancing with single MySQL engine, I would like to hear it.
