Hi,

The mgm node is only used for note startup, shutdown, and management. Your cluster will continue to run fine even if the mgm crashes and has to be restarted, however you won't be able to restart other nodes until the mgm is restarted.

There has been some work on allowing backup mgm nodes, however from the mailing list it sounds like it isn't really all that common or very throughly tested. In general it isn't really a big issue, since restarting nodes isn't all that common.
