What version are you running? If it's not the latest, can you try with the latest (4.1.13)? Otherwise, file a bug report (possibly do so anyway, but definitely search for any existing reports first).
The "ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query" usually means the MySQL server has crashed. Check the mysqld logs to see if there is more information.
Check the manual for information about getting a readable backtrace from what's in the logs.
