The partitioning code currently works best with 2**n data nodes (see previous threads for more detailed explanation)

There is also a formula in the manual for how much space is needed (which can, when rearranged, give you available space).

There's also the (undocumented) command 'all dump 1000' to give you current usage. In the future we will have a real one of these.
