Just so you know, you are "supposed" to restart each storage node with --initial if you change that part of config.ini - you can do this with 0 downtime and it prevents the sort of problems that you are talking about! Please ask if you are not sure how to do this.

That is expected behaviour; you need to have your cluster working first. If it then fails then you are OK.
