cluster online backup question

In the doc, it says:

Nodes involved in the backup save different records, since different nodes host different database fragments.

I have a cluster with three physical nodes: one mgm node (on one physical server), one ndb node and one sql node (on one physical server), and another ndb node and another sql node (on one physical server).

Does it mean the backup files will be on all three physical servers and I have to run tape backup on all three servers? If I have a disk failure on one ndb server/sql node, do I need the backups from all three servers to restore the database? Where should I put the backup from the failed disk in case I want to bring up the cluster without the failed node?

Also do you have a white paper talking about different restore/recovery scenarios?

Thanks!
