If you can take the cluster down to do the upgrade then I suggest doing so. I would take a cluster back up. Install the new software. restart the cluster clean (i.e. with --initial) and restore the database.
If you can not take the cluster down, I would still take a backup (should do that on daily anyway) and then start with the ndb_mgmd, take it down, replace the software and restart it. Then choose one of the data nodes, take it down, replace the software, restart with (--initial), wait for it to complete the start and move on to the next. The last one to do would be the mysqld.
