I can't say for sure what the network traffic was, but i am fine with making that assumption... it is a problem from time to time.

Normally i see something like "Node X declared dead due to missed heartbeat". But i am not getting any missed heartbeat messages, just a disconnect message. Is there any other reason that a node would disconnect itself?
