I don't think mysqlds are allowed to connect until the ndb engines are up and running. Your mgm output shows only one NDB node connected. In my experience, a cluster will not start until all nodes are present (you should see that your single node is perpetually 'starting' until the other node is connected too?)
Of course my experience is with 4.1.x clustering so the same may not apply to 5.0.x.
