How MySQL Cluster distributed data?

Hi everyone. I am new for MySQL Cluster. I have set up with 2 DB nodes. I'm trying to it performance.
By the way, I have some questions myself that
- how does MySQL Cluster break the whole data, also indexes? (such binary)
- how each fragments are distributed? (with balancing)
- where they go?
- Can the number of DB not to be 2^n ?
