As Jon mentioned using single node clusters isn't what NDB was designed for.
At the same time there are many advanced features in MySQL Replication
that is available only with NDB as storage engine, such as multi-master,
conflict detection handling and so forth. So there is definitely
some merit in using NDB also in this manner. Whether it is the right thing
to do is hard to say.
