Transactions & Cluster groups

Can a single transaction span across data found in different data partitions being managed by different cluster groups?
If so what is the mechanism?

Example:
I have 1 table called 'Product_catalogue' that stores all the products catalogue of a large company. In addition I have another table called 'Product_mapping' that maps external product names (of partners) to internal product names.
Both table are quite large and or partitioned across 2 cluster groups managing a different set of partitions.

Per each transaction: (1) A lookup is performed between the 'external' product name to the 'internal' product name. (2) Then several updates are performed on the Product catalouge table and joined tables, joined by the internal product name.
