I have analysed the issue and feel pretty confident that
the problem lies in using ndbd. I tried reproducing it with
ndbmtd and using ndbmtd I am not able to reproduce the issue.

My recommendation is to try and see if it works using ndbmtd.
ndbd is more or less deprecated, so is a general good advice to
start using ndbmtd instead of ndbd. It is possible to run ndbmtd
as single threaded in 8.0.23.

I might try to reproduce it with ndbd as well, but we'll see.
