Multiple SQL Servers (doco clarification)
Hi,
I tried to boost the performance of my set-up a bit by introducting an extra MySQL server node.
Adding the extra node increased overal performance by 50%.
I noticed this in the doco though (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/mysql-cluster-limitations.html):
"MySQL replication will not work correctly if updates are done on multiple MySQL servers. However, if the database partitioning scheme is done at the application level and no transactions take place across these partitions, replication can be made to work"
Im trying to figure out how this affects my set-up (if at all).
I dont to (sql) UPDATES - but just do inserts, selects and deletes. Also, each transaction in my application will affect at most one record (insert, select by PK, delete by PK).
If Im using multiple mysql servers, does the above statement mean that I should be partitioning the data access at the application level (e.g. hashing to a server by primary key) before talking to a mysql server? Or is everything ok in this scenario?
Many thanks,
Dave
