I have the exact same problem.
The interesting thing is /etc/mysql/my.cnf has a following entry:
socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock
But /var/run/mysqld doesn't even exist.
It seems that mysqld is listening on /tmp/mysql.sock, but I don't know how to configure the libDBD-mysql to connect to the /tmp/mysql.sock
This is a debian system.
Anyone? any idea?
