Upgrade questions
I am in the planning process of building out a cluster configuration. Initially it will be a 3 machine cluster, mgmt on 1 system, SQL and data on identical Dell 4GB 2850's. Initial software version is 5.1.7.
1. Down the road when I want to do a hardware upgrade on the SQL/data servers {say add 4GB memory}, is it possible to
a. take down 1 server
b. add the 4GB
c. bring server back up
d. repeat process for 2nd server
e. adjust memory settings in each server
while keeping the "cluster" serving requests?
2. Is it possible to do a software upgrade in a similar manner?
During either of these upgrade scenerios the CLuster for some period of time would be running on non-identical configurations.
The system will be answering phone dialing requests and determining where to actually dial out.
