sql replication ... different question

Hay All,

New to the mysql area..

I Was wondering if I could do this..

I have a mysql running. Would like to create a query that creates another database on the same server as a backup.

E.g. Once a night have the machine run a query that locks the database then copies it to another file on the same server as another database. Wondering if this is possible i am not too worried about loosing data but I would like to have some means of recovering my database if it gets corrupted. And a once a day backup is all i need . Not much data changes a day. But just incase.

e.g.. database1 - main database
database2 - backup database?

Thanks in advance.

Ryan
