Replication over SSH: Slave_IO_Running: No

Hello,

I have managed to get the master running.

Show master details on master node (linux) shows this:

+---------+----------+--------------+------------------+
| File | Position | Binlog_Do_DB | Binlog_Ignore_DB |
+---------+----------+--------------+------------------+
| .000002 | 889 | sampledb | |
+---------+----------+--------------+------------------+

I am connected to the master from my windows machine over PuTTY.
I am able to use the client to see the schema's and tables and
records. But when I try to use the same settings for slave
replication it does not seem to work.

NOTE: PuTTY port is in 3307(Local) connected to 3306 on the master linux server.

my.ini (on windows)
-----------------------
server-id=2
master-host=127.0.0.1
master-port=3307
master-user=root
master-password='<mypwd>
master-connect-retry=60
replicate-do-db=sampledb

I run these commands in this sequence:

SLAVE STOP;

CHANGE MASTER TO MASTER_HOST='localhost', MASTER_PORT=3307, MASTER_USER='root', MASTER_PASSWORD='<mypwd>', MASTER_LOG_FILE='.000002', MASTER_LOG_POS=183;

show slave status\G;
-----------------------
mysql> show slave status\G

"Slave_IO_Running: No" is what I get, which means that somehow
slave is not being connected to the master (I think!!!).
But MySQL Query browser can connect to the master via the SAME PuTTy.

Any suggestions?
Rahul
