Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you, but I just wanted to add that this would be such a wonderful feature. We are stuggling with the problem of keeping a lean production database, but having a near real-time full backup of that database online. If we could utilize MySQL replication, but selectively block deletes on the master from being replicated to the slave(s), we could achieve this goal.
