Depends what do you mean with read/write one at a time.
If you mean the same 1 will alwasy be used for read / write, then there is no problem, but you will not need to replicate from the 1 which never had any read/write, become redundant.
If you mean, the 1 used for read/write could be swaped at any time, you have to make sure all of the bin log had been executed by the slave before changing the server which you are going to read/write. In other words, the 2 servers have to be in sync when you change the read/write server from 1 to the other.
