I am looking for the fastest (with minimum downtime for the master) way to resync a broken replication whith a high turnover master?
Here my proposal:

On master:
flush tables with read lock;; show master status;
tar up master database
stop slave;
shutdown slave
unlock tables;
edit /var/lib/mysql/ in line 4 with master position
copy over and untar master database into slave directory
start slave database
check replication

Does anybody has recomondations or additions to this procedure?
