Hi, thanks for your help!

The master binlogs are not purged.

From your reply, I take it that every instruction in the replication log should be executed and then the replication log deleted on a clean shutdown of the slave (host)(?)

For some reason, this is not happening on my system. After 'STOP SLAVE' it is still data in the replication log. So I can assume that if these files are flushed/deleted, the SLAVE will fail on restart.
