Look at the PURGE command for keeping the binlogs on the Master pruned.

The "relay logs" on the slave are removed as they are used up. Look at the .index file to see which logs are known about. If there are other files, then something crashed and got fogotten; these can be manually deleted. Normally there will be exactly 1 or 2 relay logs. If there are more than 2, either replication is very far behind, or is stopped. Look at SHOW SLAVE STATUS;
