Don't put both masters in the same datacenter. Put one in each of two datacenters.

Yes, datacenters do go down. Or someone accidentally pulls the plug on the one rack where all your servers are. Or...

Once you get past 1 slave per master, split your slaves across datacenters. When a Master dies, all the slaves all of _its_ slaves will fail to get updates until something has been fixed. By splitting the slaves across datacenters, only half the slaves in each colo will be "stale".

Do you have load-balancing set up so that writes and reads can go to either datacenter automagically?
