Help! bin log files

Hi,

I have encountered a problem with the bin log file changing names from myhostname-bin.XXXX to mysql.XXX for no apparent reason. I have checked the my.cnf file and log-bin is not set to anything (so default bin log file should be myhostname-bin.XXXX in the data directory).

I have not performed any flushes or resets so there should be no reason why the file name should change, right?

mysql server has been running for several months without any problems.

I am running mysql Ver 11.12 Distrib 3.23.33, for hp-hpux11.00 (hppa2.0w)

Any help would be appreciated.

Sherwin
