Flooded with Security Warning in Slave

We are running a 5.7 slave RDS instance with a on-premise master. I noticed our slave error log is flooded with this kind of security message every minute.

[Warning] Storing MySQL user name or password information in the master info repository is not secure and is therefore not recommended. Please consider using the USER and PASSWORD connection options for START SLAVE; see the 'START SLAVE Syntax' in the MySQL Manual for more information.

I found this similar bug

Does that mean the slave cannot maintain a steady connections with the master? I wonder what would cause it. If that is indeed the case, I want to know how to proof it to show the network is not steady. Secondly what parameter set it to set off the warning every minute?

thank you
