I'd say you're giving advices pointing to a one thousand years old howtos "How to completely jeopardize your production database operations with taking a mere backup" (because the article you gave is worth reading only for like 50 mrgabytes databases), so it probably means you don't fully understand what you're saying, because it means (among a lot possible senses) that you definitely cannot use a database of a crashed server. And the latter is like an everyday reality of certain amount of database engineers.
