Okay, so just to summarize - I've asked "how to keep binlog pointer fsynced while rolling updates on a replica like the situation was while 5.7.x was the last released branch", and you're replying with "You need Enterprise Edition".
Well, that level of knowledge was expeted from someone who recommends taking backups without --single-transaction switch, bravo.
