Speed of Mysqldump

if I want to backup tables with mysqldump that have a size of 10 GB and more, mysqldump gets slower and slower (output of 1 MB/s). On the other side tables with 1-2 GB have an output of 20-30 MB/s.

Does anyone have a hint, which buffers or config parameters I have to increase / change to get faster results with big tables?

Beste wishes
