Need to access/backup recovered deleted MySql data

Hi,
Not exactly sure where this goes but... I recovered my database folder from mysql/data/my_database which was accidentally deleted after an uninstall. I've tried mysqldump, but receive "incorrect informtaion in file: ...\companies.frm". I've tried to access the my_database thru phpmyadmin but it fails to connect. I've looked in the .MYD files and can see the data along with a lot of junk. Is there any way to get this data out?
