Dual Master Replication - Backup and Binary Log Purge Strategies

How do people generally manage backups and binary log purges when using a dual node Master-Master configuration?

Anyone doing one of the following?:
Backup slave and selectively purge logs on both nodes
Backup on both servers
Backup without purging logs and set expire_log_days

I'm just trying to find out what the most popular strategies are as I can see quite a few different possible methods.
