Re: Painfully slow import

I have now inserted all these settings at the top of the decompressed .sql file, which is 556GB.

The import is running slightly "faster". Looking at the .ibd files, 45MB are written per FIVE MINUTES!! Utterly ridiculous.

The IOTOP utility reports mysqld writing 7-15MB/sec.

IO wait time is at 1.6%.

LSOF reports that msyqld writes on all the expected files, i.e. my DB files plus ibdata1 plus a bit of activity in the mysql DB, i.e. nothing peculiar.

So where is all this writing activity going into????

This is one of the greatest mysteries I've seen in my 25+ years of professional life.

Has anyone seen a mysql import run so slow, I wonder....
