The MySQL Windows Experience Team is proud to announce the release of MySQL Notifier version 1.1.4, the latest addition to the MySQL Installer for Windows.

MySQL Notifier enables developers and DBAs to easily monitor, start and stop all their MySQL database instances. It provides a familiar Microsoft SQL Server look and feel and integrates with MySQL Workbench.

MySQL Notifier is installed using the MySQL Installer for Windows.
The MySQL installer comes in 2 versions
- Full (150 MB) which includes a complete set of mysql products with their binaries included in the download
or
- Web (1.5 MB - a network install) which will just pull the MySQL Notifier over the web and install it when run.

You can download MySQL Installer from our official Downloads page at:
http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/installer/.

MySQL Notifier 1.1.4 introduces the following features:

• Monitoring of services in remote Windows computers (any service, not only MySQL Server services, similar to the local services monitoring offered in MySQL Notifier 1.0.3) via asynchronous Windows Management Instrumentation. Monitored services are grouped by computer name where the topmost is the Localhost. After a service in the Localhost or a remote computer is added to the monitored list, the MySQL Notifier automatically monitors for MySQL Server services addition (this option can be turned-off by users).

• Monitoring of MySQL Server instances on any platform via a timer configurable by users. These instances are monitored via MySQL Workbench connections which are automatically shared with the MySQL Notifier. If MySQL Workbench is not installed, the connections are saved and used by the MySQL Notifier and migrated to MySQL Workbench if the latter is installed.

Also this release contains the following bug fixes:

• The MySQL Workbench SQL Editor link was visible even when the option was not available, and it would open the Home screen of MySQL Workbench. This link is now enabled if the available MySQL Workbench supports opening the SQL Editor from the command line, and if the bound service contains MySQL Workbench connections, otherwise the link is disabled.
o Bug #14332402 - CLICKING "SQL EDITOR" DOESN'T ACTUALLY OPEN SQL EDITOR IN WB

• Sometimes the MySQL Notifier would fail to automatically add MySQL services to the monitor even when the AutoAddServicesToMonitor option was enabled.
o Bug #16660623 - NOTIFIER IS NOT LISTING THE JUST INSTALLED SERVER INSTANCE
o MySql bug #67617, Bug #15887501 - MYSQL NOTIFIER AUTOFILTER NOT AUTO FINDING RUNNING SERVICES
o Bug#14345177 - NEW SERVICE IS NOT ADDED TO NOTIFIER

• Services that were manually added to MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows would not be listed until after MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows was restarted.

• MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows would not start after upgrading version 1.0.3 to 1.1.3. A workaround was to delete the old 1.0.3 settings from the MySQL Notifier settings folder (contained within %APPDATA%) before executing the upgrade.

• Instance options edited from the Manage Instance Settings dialog were not saved. They are now written to settings.config.

• The MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows icon remained yellow when installed with a new MySQL Server along with the Notifier, even when the service within the Notifier was running.

• MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows would continue to run after it was uninstalled. A workaround was to close MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows before uninstalling it.
o Bug #16661468 - NOTIFIER PROCESS/APPLICATION IS STILL RUNNING AFTER UNINSTALL.

• On Microsoft Windows 8, the autostart registry entry was not created properly, therefore the Notifier would not start after the user logged in.
o MySQL Bug #69279, Bug #16832752 - MYSQL NOTIFIER: DOES NOT START WITH WINDOWS, INCORRECT SETTING WITHIN REGISTER.
o Bug #14400738 - RUN AT WINDOWS STARTUP OPTION IS NOT WORKING

• The MySQL Notifier for Microsoft Windows service will now start itself immediately after being installed by the MySQL Installer.
o Bug #16927045 - AUTOSTART NOTIFIER AFTER SUCCESSFULL INSTALLATION.

• A Refresh Status action was added to the Actions menu. It manually refreshes the status of all monitored services (in both local and remote computers) and MySQL instances.
