not sure if this is covered, but i will not use replication still due to:

a) inability to heal itself on certain errors. i still get phantom primary key issues once in a while, don't know why but something gets computed out of order. once it is broken, i have to take master down or read-only (which on a highly dynamic site is essentially downtime)

and closely related:

b) better/quicker online resync. perhaps some sort of flag to say "slave is not ready yet" and allow it to resync with master and then flag itself as online...
