MySQL AB - 2005.08.04

MySQL AB is pleased to announce our first Alpha release of the new
Connector/ODBC v5. Connector/ODBC v5 is available now for MS Windows XP
(x86-32bit) and Linux (x86-32bit) with other platforms to follow.

Connector/ODBC is our new ODBC driver and is designed to fully implement the

latest ODBC specification including full support for descriptors and
diagnostics. Developers interested in accessing features introduced into the

latest MySQL server products should consider using Connector/ODBC at some
point in the future.

This, Alpha, release begins the Alpha/Beta series of releases. This release
contains the basic functionality required to use an ODBC driver;

* alloc handles
* submit statements to the server
* process results using SQLFetch and SQLGetData
* free handles

This release is known to have problems working with some generic
applications
such as MS Access and this will be corrected in future Alpha releases.
Please
refer to the documentation included with this release for details on
features
supported and features to be supported.
