Sequoia Open Source ERP, a MySQL-compatible open source ERP suite, has been released. This stable release offers a full suite of eCommerce, Point Of Sales, Product Catalog, Customer, Order, Inventory and Warehouse, Manufacturing, and Content Management Applications. It has been tested in both Windows and Linux using MySQL 5.0.13RC and PostgreSQL 8.0.4.

Sequoia ERP is intended for e-tailers, retailers, distributors, and manufacturers with business needs such as:
o Selling physical, digital, matrix, configurable, and rental products through multiple channels.
o Integrating online and brick and mortar stores through a single system which supports both eCommerce and Point Of Sales.
o Managing inventory across multiple stores and warehouses.
o Automating order fulfillment, including purchasing, shipping, receiving.
o Offering customers custom price lists and rule-based promotions and discounts.
o Planning and tracking manufacturing with bill of materials, production runs, and material resource planning.

This ERP suite is based on the Open For Business (OFBiz) project, which has been in continuous development since 2001 and has been downloaded over 200,000 times from SourceForge.NET. Like OFBiz, Sequoia ERP offers many of the features common to Java and J2EE applications, such as:
Scaleable to thousands of concurrent users.
Model View Controller architecture.
Support for XML and web services.
Operating system independence.

Sequoia ERP and OFBiz also offer some unique technical strengths, including:
Support for all major relational databases, with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and Microsoft SQL Server being some of the most popular choices.
A Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) which supports workflow and integration with external applications.
Remote synchronization of data.

Release 0.8.1 is a stable, production ready release which can be downloaded from SourceForge.NET, where the mailing lists, forums, and issue trackers for community support are also hosted. Community feedback and bug reports from these SourceForge tools will be used to enhance future releases.

Sequoia ERP is sponsored by Open Source Strategies, Inc. and released under the MIT Public License, which means that it can be freely downloaded, used, modified and even incorporated into custom or commercial applications. Open Source Strategies, Inc. is one of the core developers of the Open For Business project, and it offers commercial services and support for Sequoia ERP users.
