Strange performance problem.
I am having an intermittent performance problem in executing a MySQL query from a cgi script.
If I perform a search query after several hours of inactivity, it can take over a minute to execute. All subsequent queries (with different search terms) take around a second.
I assume there some kind of caching going on but I'm clueless how to resolve it. Any ideas would be appreciated.
A few more details:
using MySQL 4.1
executing query via Visual Basic cgi script
using Apache web server.
Thanks
