DES key file

Hi,

I'm wondering about how secure the DES key file really is.
If someone stole my computer with the whole database.
Can the person use that file to decrypt the data in the database - or is the key file protected?

I'm a real newbie on MySql built in encryption techniques.
Can someone please advice me.
