Recovering or Re-Setting Root Password?
On one of the computers in our local lab -- somehow, someone seems to have unauthrizedly set the MySQL root password.
We don't know whether this was (a) done by whoever packaged the OS or (b) done by someone here who just forgot to document it. All we know is that we are locked out of MySQL administration on our own system.
Since I have superuser access to the machine - nothing should be beyond my power - the only problem should be knowing how do to what I need to do.
So does anyone know of a way that I (as the Linux superuser) can either (a) recover the MySQL administrative password or (b) re-set it without knowing the previous password?
Thanks,
Adam
