If there're no error messages in the error log when you try to login then I'd need the result of "SELECT USER,HOST,PLUGIN FROM mysql.user", as well as tcpdump of the connection attempt to further diagnose that.
I suggest you consider seeking support at http://www.mysql.com/support/ too.
