Re: New Installation and root cannot login with or without password

I install MySQL version 5.7.18 on the latest version of Centos 7 and spent hours trying to work with MySQL. I searched the internt and read docs for hours before I stumbled on Jorge Hernandez's suggestion of running: grep 'temporary password' /var/log/mysqld.log

That worked instantly. All of the suggestions of running mysqld --init-files etc all failed because you cannot log in. None of the ways of recoveing the root password works. This is a bad idea. One of the methods should work, just incase I lose the password or someone in the company loses the password and we need to recover.

But thanks to Jorge I can continue my class after hours of looking for this solution.
