MySQL Appropriate for 1T- 5T DW ?

We are a small web startup trying to plan for a 1-5 T DW. We currently have a 100 G DW going, and are pleased with it.

Nevertheless, the following things concern us:

1. Lack of reference at the scale. Sure there is the case studies and such, but they seldom have enough details to make us comfortable. (e.g: are these guys even building a DW).

2. The fact that as soon as a Terabyte is mentioned, people start mentioning InfoBright. (Probably a great engine, but we are not ready to go there yet).

3. That MySql lacks features that are pretty standard for DW: bitmapped indexes, star joins, analytical queries. (I must say: partitioning is a welcome relief), lack of parallelization (1 query = 1 CPU).

4. That this board is so quiet.

5. That the founder of MySQL just left Sun.

any insights will be appreciated,
